Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG) is a glycoprotein hormone structurally similar to LH (luteinizing hormone), produced naturally during pregnancy. In male physiology research, hCG activates LH receptors in the testes to stimulate testosterone production and maintain testicular size and spermatogenesis. It is widely used in research protocols to restore endogenous testosterone production following exogenous androgen suppression, and to study the LH/testosterone axis directly.
